Winnie the Pooh
UMR144, Institut Curie

Hello, I am Winnie the Pooh, I was acquired with the Nikon Confocal Microscope A1R at Curie Institute in July 2010. I am unique even if I look pretty simple at first glance.
I am just composed of a lipid bilayer. I have a green nose, a blue face and red ears. The red and blue colors arise from different lectins bound to Gb3, a glycosphingolipid in the lipid bilayer.
The green color results from a fluorescent lipid. At a second glance, I am already too complex to be fully understood, because nobody can explain until now why the two lectins are not together, as initially expected.
But that’s science!
