Fusogenic properties of the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein lead to the formation of multi-nucleated giant macrophages in vitro as well as in vivo.
Here, Tubulin (red) and actin (cyan) staining highlight the complex reorganization of the cytoskeleton. Nuclei (blue) show a typical circular organization where viruses seem to be enclosed.
